Counseling Services For Individuals And Couples
Human beings learn how to relate to others before we can even speak and remember. We establish patterns of engagement and skills for self-protection in the crib that will play out for the rest of our lives. But when we are older, behaviors and beliefs that protected us when we were young can become part of a cycle of shame and regret that prevents us from moving forward. We help individuals and couples establish new patterns for a healthy and fulfilling life.

Counseling For Individuals And Couples
We work with individuals and couples to develop healthy perspectives on themselves, their life, and their relationships. We work together to turn conflict and pain into opportunities for healing and growth.
Early relationships establish lifelong patterns, including perspectives on what you need to experience love and feel safe. Only by understanding these patterns that we bring to all relationships can we make changes to support healthier relationships in the future.
Therapeutic Approaches
Trauma Recovery Through Cognitive Processing Therapy
The journey to healing from trauma begins with exploring feelings about what happened. You'll only talk about the specific events when and if you are ready. As we move through our feelings, we will discuss the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of traumatic events and what the events say about us. Understanding these stories helps us move through trauma work without getting overwhelmed.
Lucy Hollis specializes in Cognitive Processing (CPT) for trauma recovery. The American Psychological Association says, "CPT is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps patients learn how to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma." Check out this episode of This American Life to learn more about Cognitive Processing Therapy.
Discussing the most painful events of your life with another human is distressing and scary, and setting an appointment to deal with trauma is one of the bravest acts we can imagine. We honor the bravery required to set an appointment by meeting you where you are. You will move at your own pace as you process and heal.
