How much does a session cost?

Our standard hourly rate is $125 per hour. Most sessions last 1 hour.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

A limited number of engagements are available on a sliding scale. Contact us for more information.

Are you currently accepting new patients?

We currently have a waiting list for new patients. Hollis Counseling is developing programs and approaches to expand our capacity.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance at this time, but we will provide the documentation you need to file claims directly with your insurance provider.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Venmo, American Express, Cash, Check, Discover, Health Savings Accounts, Mastercard, Paypal and Visa.

Is a counselor the same thing as a psychologist?

No. Counselors focus on different things. Psychologists and Psychiatrists focus on diagnosis and treatment, whereas counselors offer a prevention-oriented approach. We combine psychology's understanding of human behavior with social work's ability to identify resources in yourself and your life that can support your pursuit of wholehearted living.

Is a counselor the same as a therapist?

The words counselor and therapist are synonyms, but the preferred word can tell you something about a practice. We prefer the word “counselor” because it includes everything a therapist does and adds a focus on coaching and helping individuals access and develop resources and support beyond the therapy hour.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

Both! You can participate in your session either virtually or in person.
