Meet Lucy Hollis

Lucy earned her bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After a short career in graphic art, she began graduate studies in human development at Vanderbilt University. There she had her first experiences working with trauma and survivors of sexual assault.

"I discovered something about myself in that time: I didn’t turn away. I could sit with people who've been through the darkest experiences without flinching or feeling overwhelmed. From the start, it felt deeply important to me to find a way to communicate how beautiful and brave these survivors were, that they were lovely and lovable-no matter what they had experienced."

In her 20s, Lucy's own struggles with depression, anxiety and loss almost overwhelmed her as she endured multiple miscarriages. Unable to complete her graduate work, she found a supportive therapist and took the first steps toward healing and building a different kind of life.

"My own therapy has been a living demonstration of what is possible. The counselors who worked with me helped me begin to see myself clearly. Over time I came to understand that the distorted beliefs I held about myself were causing all kinds of problems in my life and relationships. That was my light bulb moment, and nothing has been the same since. I want to share that same experience with others."

Lucy spent the next l5 years raising her children and working with projects she loves, like Studio by the Tracks. But in the late 2000s, she found herself a single mother of 3 kids without a clear path forward. She thought back to the desire that led to her work with trauma survivors in the 90s and decided it was time to find a way to offer the kind of support she'd experienced in counseling. So Lucy enrolled at the University of Montevallo, earning her Master's degree and certifications in a variety of treatment modalities.

She has been practicing for 11 years.
